Without a doubt, elders, in traditional African societies, had a significant and outsized role in all manner of life. Abandoned Elder comments on the way tribal elders have been disregarded as society modernizes. The dichotomy between progress and tradition, though, transcends the microcosm of tribal communities and speaks about the larger theme of things lost in time - the difference between the old generation and the new generation. Are these changes for better or for worse?
